Players are punished by a one match ban if they accrue five yellow cards by 31 December from the start of the season.
After that date, players will not be banned unless they pick up ten bookings by 14 April.
The Charlton players currently most at risk are Michael Morrison and Dale Stephens. The duo both picked up their fourth bookings of the campaign at The Valley against Cardiff last Tuesday.
The Bristol City match was negotiated without mishap but the pair still have another nine games to get through before they are safe. Bradley Pritchard has picked up three yellow cards, so is another at risk of picking up a ban.
It will be interesting to see if the threat of a possible ban has any effect on how Morrison and Stephens approach the upcoming games.
